Blogiversary & Cute Classroom Snack!

Today is Piggy In Polka Dots's 1st Blogiversary!

Last January when I was planning my daughter's Bake Shoppe Birthday Party I did a lot of research online to find ideas and inspiration.  I came across some amazing ideas and all sorts of cute stuff!  What I didn't realize was that I was finding these amazing ideas on "Mommy Blogs."  I didn't really know anything about blogging.  It didn't occur to me right away that I was even reading a blog.  Some of my favorite blogs were (and still are) Passion-for-Parties, Domestically Charmed, and Bakerella.  These ladies were a big inspiration to me. They were doing everything I enjoy doing, only they were also blogging about it.  I thought to myself that I could do, and would LOVE to do, that too!  So after my daughter's party, which turned out super cute, I gave it a lot of thought.  I talked it over with my husband and a few others who were very encouraging and very excited for me.  So I began to set up my blog Piggy In Polka Dots.  At the time I didn't even know what a blog hop or a linky party was!  I was slow to begin growing an audience.  Each new member and each new visit was so encouraging and very exciting.  Little by little over this past year I have learned more about blogging and I am still learning!  I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon and I hope you will all join me for another wonderful year of Piggy In Polka Dots.  I have a lot of awesome goals I would like to reach this year and more of a plan than I began with when I started Piggy In Polka Dots. With the new adventure of opening my very own shoppe, I think this will be a very exciting year!

For fun let's take a quick look at the very first thing I ever posted!

We have "Fun Friday" every week at my kiddos' school.  When I posted this snack last year my son was in 1st grade and his class was working on an ocean unit.  It was also his week to bring "Fun Friday" snacks.  They have their snacks around 9:30 so I wanted to send them something fun but rather wholesome.  I also wanted to compliment the unit they were studying.  That is when I thought up this "Fishing Kit" snack!  They are cute, fun, silly, and not too sugary.

Before I started making "printables" I would simply make tags in Word, cut them out, and paste them onto construction paper or card stock.

The kiddos and the teachers loved these "Fishing Kits!"

To make your own you will need:

 cello treat bags
 pretzel rods (fishing rod)
 Goldfish Crackers snack packs (fish)
 gummy worms (bait)
 ribbon

They are super quick to package up.  Simply place the "fish", then one "rod" and a few gummy worms for "bait" into each treat bag.  Tie and add the tag!  I called this one a "Deep Sea Fishing Kit" because it was closer to "ocean" but you can name it simply "Fishing Kit."

I even made you some printable tags to add to your snacks!  I didn't have one made the first time I posted this but I only had just a few readers then too!  Click here to print them!

Thank you again so much for reading Piggy In Polka Dots! Here's to another wonderful year!

Hugs,

Shelley
